What is GOLU?

Welcome to Game of Life - Universes!

GOLU takes Conway's original Game of Life and extends his work by allowing you to experiment with configurable neighborhood definitions and influence patterns.

Each configuration creates a unique universe with distinct behaviors - some favor explosive growth, others promote stability, and some generate entirely novel patterns.

Manipulate the rules of physics of your little universe and see what cellular automata can grow, thrive, or die.

WebGPU Browser Support

Chrome & Edge
WebGPU is supported by default. On Linux, experimental Vulkan support may require flags (chrome://flags/#enable-unsafe-webgpu) or launch parameters.

Firefox

Experimental WebGPU is available in Firefox Nightly and some Developer editions. To use it, enable dom.webgpu.enabled (and optionally gfx.webgpu.force-enabled) in about:config, then use a secure context. Stable Firefox has no native support yet.

Safari

Safari Technology Preview (macOS) and Safari 26 (macOS 14) beta include WebGPU behind developer flags. Enable Show features for web developers in Preferences, then toggle WebGPU, GPU Process: DOM Rendering, and GPU Process: Canvas Rendering under Feature Flags.

iOS / iPadOS

Previews of iOS/iPadOS 17.4+ offer WebGPU behind a hidden Safari flag. Go to Settings → Safari → Advanced → Feature Flags → WebGPU, enable it, then restart.
